P233 at least but PII-400 would be more suitable. On a feeble processor some part of audio data will be loosen at interception. Since advanced mathematic is performed in real time, the adequate computation resources are necessary. Memory load is from 2 up to ~25 Mb (depends on a concrete plug-in)

Video card. Any, which is supporting DirectDraw. Optimal screen resolution would be 1024?768 at 32 bit of colors
Sound card. Limits have not been found. Please remember, full duplex allows analyse sound signals of any formats. In addtition, take care: some sound card manufactures supplies inferior software or sometime good software was installed incorrectly (for example,over previous installed drivers). So for these cases UniScope could be used as a tester. If a sound stutter is absent when UniScope is operating simultaneously with some verified player all is OK.
Processor loading may be 100% continuously! In this case the UniScope will miss some blocks in sound stream and will draw spectra with delay which depends on power of a concrete processor and on a particular plug-in. Nothing doing, accurate FFT computing and exact spectra drawing in real time are not tricky subjects. You can unload gently the PC processor through UniScope's FPS tune or through resize plug-in window. From the other hand, to avoid sound stutter during playback of some "hard compressed" files (eg from DVD) please use approved players and decoders. We have recommended emphatically the WinAmp and its most popular plug-ins. For DVD and AC3 sound play the PowerDVD software (2.55 or higher) would be fine.
Processor loading tune
UniScopes operates in REAL TIME interception mode and WAV reading mode as well with IDLE PRIORITY (run only when the system is idle) by default. It's quite enough usually, but not for recording at feeble processors.
To change UniScope priority, please, use the follow command lines (just add 1 or 2 or 3 afterspace):
uniscope.exe 1 - NORMAL_PRIORITY Specify this class for aprocess with no special scheduling needs
uniscope.exe 2 - HIGH_PRIORITY Specify this class for aprocess that performs time-critical tasks that must be executedimmediately. The threads of the process preempt the threads ofnormal or idle priority class processes. An example is WindowsTask List, which must respond quickly when called by the user,regardless of the load on the operating system. Use extreme carewhen using the high-priority class, because a high-priority classapplication can use nearly all available CPU time
uniscope.exe 3 - REALTIME_PRIORITY Specify this class fora process that has the highest possible priority. The threads ofthe process preempt the threads of all other processes, includingoperating system processes performing important tasks. Forexample, a real-time process that executes for more than a verybrief interval can cause disk caches not to flush or cause themouse to be unresponsive.

UniScope digitally intercepts audio signals, which arrive to WaveIn device. It could be the port of sound card (inputs such as Line-in, CD-in, Aux-in, Microphone-in, Digital-in and others) or virtual sound device. In addition Uniscope computes flexibly FFT spectra of the intercepted audio signals. Clear, midi music is intercepted also. At that the activation of desired inputs in AUDIO MIXER (in record mode) is enough to operate UniScope. For really full duplex cards the interception from WaveOut port is executed , i.e. during playback of any audio files (WAV, MP3, VQF, WMA, OGG, AC-3, AAC,?) and of any audio tracks (AVI, MPEG, VOB,?). Thus You able observe and analysis in real time the live sound which You records and hears in contrast to an abstract digital sound contained on hard disk or CD. To clear up the difference between "live" and "disk" sound please use UniScope's mode for OFF-line WAV file reading.
Each sound card has specific "personal" peculiarities. You never read about it in the sound card specification. Moreover a lame assemblage of system unit or unfortunately choice of PC components give out dirty noise appearance for audio card analog and digital outputs. UniScope with standard plug-in allow to see how one channel differs from other channel, how each input is noisy and what a record level will be optimal.
